Facet, Flower

what then do you take as prizes from your enemy – hair, heart, horn
that you might like them be sharp in thinking, full of passion born within
fury in your motivation – swear, star, torn and broken
paired against their absorbing conviction, oath and offset, contract bound
comet over battled field, arc of sign and throne in line, splintered on plinth
that you might unlike them be your governance, your path, your token
and crown thyself unkinged, claim destitution’s mounted grinder
tilled into soil each sapphire’s touch, worn, and worn, and worn
of their field, smallest surfaces kept, prie-dieu and pried due
in the heat of their ancestral home, laid claim
civilization is reaping
in ink of the palest translucent blue, write your word
mine is the path, mine is the way, mine is thine own
Steal this and in the ink of a single petal, so close to the word, see blue
