I’d been working with reference materials from a fellow artist, but found that the lighting I wanted for a reference photo was different than what I’d want for a portrait photo in general. So bit the bullet and shot my own, as well as going through my archives of prior shoots for more material. Pretty happy with how stuff is coming out, though I’ll cheerfully admit to destroying some perfectly good paper and paint in the process.
