that dead rabbit
just lying there out back
one ear ever so gently moving
may not be expired
perhaps just fox-nipped
or having a lie-down
in all the heat
best to check it out
dubious quiet steps
camera at ready
to discover just a bit
of random cardboard
comfortably sunning itself
beside the flower bed
