Maybe Don’t Roll In That

this time, what’s shorted out the dog
is an actual electrical appliance
they’ve lost a fight to
no electricity has been applied –
their tender flesh twitches regardless
purely in anticipation
that the next bold stroke might limb them
a terror boundless and pristine
of clippers
neither the dog nor I
confident in determination
of fur yuck stuck
