An Ex Tick

in the curly underbelly fur
of the cutest doggy doom
lived a tick, so very briefly
before the poison killed them
what then is this poison blood
with which the puddle floods
I’m having an emotion here
or that emotion’s having me
to love the dog is to poison the dog
most mildly to poison the dog
so as to aggressively poison the tick
unmoving, dead before me
this sweetest puddle weaponized
cat cursing my proclivities
