sir, sir, this is not a crime scene
that’s not blood, the breakage
sir, the pattern’s off
a pause
someone’s been cooking, sir –
a finger dips, retracts
touches lips
mmm, oregano

3 large tomatoes, 10 large leaves fresh basil, four heads of garlic - oregano, soy sauce, olive oil, black vinegar, cumin, onion to taste. 1 fresh cayenne pepper.
Vigorous stabbing and cussing.
