we would like to apologize
for what the brain-mice said
late last night
when it looked like you were
getting closer, gaining trust
some late insight
but we are they, and they us
and understand it can disturb
late at night
when that familiar body
disintegrates and runs away
little mouse-flight
sometimes the best there is
is four thousand tiny feet
and eek, eek
