I want you to understand
that to get the discount
on day-old food you have referenced
one seventh the cost of the lowest
I can find near my home
I would need to travel
ninety miles each way
to a country that won’t let me in
while my nation, in careful consideration
will not permit my hunger fed
unless I swear chattel-stance
in performative submission
suppressing earnings
