if I am awake
if there is no mistake
if this is not more dreaming
if the thud in fact releases
if belief in awake increases
get out of bed

if the upright takes
if the coffee’s made
if the grade of agony’s OK
if the cat insists
if the coffee fits
some breakfast

if the breakfast works
if it doesn’t drop
if it doesn’t burn again
if it doesn’t turn again
if it fits and doesn’t hurt
more coffee
