Servant Of Story

as the fashionistas in the story
each and every cat I’ve ever served
knows full well their infamy
sure, they let me say the home is mine
let me bide my time in endless snuggles
but assuredly the tale has some tails
in question-mark, in greetings
in bottle-fluff and lashed un-seatings
theirs, forever, is the chosen lark
every time I see –
you are not the protagonist –
I already know
