Desire Paths

our nation has a funny walk
while we talk the talk of genocide
while we wait for others here beside us
to lay their arms, their entire selves
astride the path to progress

that we might shortcut, redirect
infect, inject that silver word
of others’ poisonous refusal
to desire paths infused to us
who refuse recusal
