Tripping Meters Sidewards

self-delusion kicks in with languid blue lips
suggesting we cannot possibly get any stupider
a symptomatic presentation of that very condition
while holding our breaths we apply science
ignoring all indication of experimental result
claiming through dead-lights our end is nigh
exhale, exhale, exhale
we’ll get there eventually
