We Love Them More

if we could just
be beautiful
and sad enough
for company

our silences
could by themselves
in corners sit
for tea

in many tinted
porcelain
posed
forever flawed

our needle teeth
would not demand
thy flesh
thy patterns gnawed

we’ve seen your world
your treatment true
of how you keep
your own

enchanted, wrapped –
we thus decline
your knickknack
shelven throne
