eventually
our family recipes
underwent simplification
from sweet and sour pork
to sweet and sweet pork
to that abomination investiture
pork simple syrup

requiring
I move out of state
to retire my childhood trauma
in a nightmare of piggy dissonance
three-o-five base horsepower
and a tow-chain
couldn’t rip
