we have named
the parts of our churches
as we have named
the parts of our castles
as we have named
the parts of our selves

claiming in sole architecture
holes for pouring boiling murder
calling it absolution’s hard thumb
on our scale-selves’ numb provenance

we have named
the parts of our history
as we have named
the parts of our acceptability
as we have named
the infinite unacceptable

we stand upon
