Poem, Implied Violence, Immortal Dispositions
In Sliding Seasons
February 9, 2024
when we said – grant us another hour
this life has been lovely for us
and we wish to remember –
this was not a request for your mercy
but for ours
that which you will not grant
we will tear from you in autumn splendor
each frail leaf adrift in memory
star lit between tree and stone
no peaceful fire
