A Gem In Wave

each morning, the robot throws itself at a rock
always the same rock, always the same result
a dim metallic clack, a feedback loop, then radar
coming live, verifying the rock, verifying robot
neighbors yelling at pigeons, mistaking sounds
radar triggering garage door opener, some kid –
ma, ma, pigeons in the garage again – robot
settling in, cleans the marble polish in the garden
