Poem, Warcrimes, Memorial Day
Missed Rotation
May 27, 2024
at Memorial Day parties
I speak little and drink nothing
my celebrations saved for later
that I might raise glass to none
who in conflation of death
were forgiven action unbefitting
home again, sip by sip
I shall speak the names of my dead
pouring into crucible each memory
those who probably, probably didn’t
before their time was up
partake
saying – loves, I miss you
but if you did, dark unmake you
