Little Trees

outside the litter box
the cat has done a thing
neighbor’s kid
observing

saying –
it’s OK kitty
we don’t mind
little mistakes –

while I wait for evening
knowing the cat, in tempera
will be fashioning little trees
one mistake at a time

our Public Television past
getting the best for us
cleaning the canvas
cat observing
