we’ve filled this entire supermarket
with adult content

basic human needs
in protein and vegetables
marked up

saying of those in desperation
paying up is never enough

enforcement
demanding only certain flavors
of self-protection

that we may breed
that we may bleed
that we may lower ourselves

to feed in minimal bites
a fraction of our appetite

still starving
