my earplugs are special order
cancelling one hundred percent
my headphones play one variation
upon illegal note, stoke in hiss

to which my manufactured deafness
is both shield and conformity
horse context match by breed
in perfect waiting shape

I’m reading, always
should your demand
for my attention insist
my form grants permission

I would be remiss
to deny petrification
