we were hoping leopard prints
weren’t like fingerprints
unique to each leopard
marking personal territory
how you don’t piss on that tree
or the leopard will come for you
one particular leopard somewhere
laying claim to a thousand couches
and the entirety of the 1970s
slaying patient from the wings
claiming a third of human disappearances
in spilled coffee and incontinence
