Columbus Goodnight

in honor of our old heroes who weren’t
the notional time travel association
permits one frivolity per instance
kinetic orbital strikes on Christopher Columbus
absolutely railing that old monster

allowing us to whisper in his ear –
hey, nasty-man, look up
from what you’re looking down on –
just before he goes

while at some point
in someone else’s future
someone whispers
in our ear
