past me, magnanimous
cooked extra burgers
correctly spiced full
extra garlic and onions
chopped fine, egg
bread crumb binding
seared, then medium-rare

present me, six years on
has a dilemma, an urge
to not disappoint past me
and the juxtaposition
is making me hungry
at both ends of the timeline
