they grew me to salute
in perfection and obedience
who claimed a day for lying
they grave ‘pon me, repeat
in reverence and contrition
who claimed by day deceiving
who gave a day to me
that I might to their children
speak a mythic venom
but pledge duress replying
no oath nor word by threat
holds aught but fool resigning
