hiring fools to test foolproof containers
food-safe, mouse-proof, in pastel colors
eventually ran afoul of criminal investigation
three ethics panels later determining
our benchmarks for success were dubious
in part due to dye allergies
but largely because no-one, no-one at all ever
is mouse-proof for extended periods
if the mice can’t get other food
