Doom

cat, as is their habit
keeps pushing
eventually
they’ll get under that blanket
blanket, the new dog
whuffs in some confusion
deep Newfoundland tones
rumbling the bed
frozen meow
some six pounds
watches doom rising
doom
a gentle landslide
tucks them under chin
