Splaying Stages

when the heat breaks, when the panel van
done up with three whip antennas
in failed lay-down disguise attempt
finally drives away, taking humidity with it
some of the messages come back
while outside, someone who might be
from somewhere else, safer
walks down the street with bubble-water
clicking, clacking frozen telemetry
thinking nothing of sigint
